Black Friday

I am posting this at 6:05am coming back from my first (and last) Early Bird Circular Special Black Friday quest. A $399 HP Laptop (on the front page of the Best Buy Circular) was my mission, my dad and I went to two separate Best Buys in Southern New Hampshire. My brother and I drove to the one in Manchester wondering if there'd be a small crowd of people or if we'd be one of the first there. We were in a mile and a half long line going around the Mall of New Hampshire. Apparently this line was only a half a mile long at 2AM.

When we finally got in and I asked about the laptop, the Everquest champion working the customer service desk looked at me and said "no, all out, next" like I was stupid for asking the question. Normally this would lead to a confrontation similar to Beers' Bachelor Party in Baltimore (for those that remember that). But while beating these people up in junior high school may have been just playful bullying, at that particular moment it would've been someone else's blog post. So my brother and I turned cheek and walked around realizing that the $2.99 DVD's of White Chicks and Into the Blue weren't worth waiting in the almost as ridiculous checkout lines.

I learned a lesson today though. Unless your willing to start waiting in line, once your home from Thanksgiving dinner, you should ignore anything advertised in a circular (especially Best Buy's) as it will be gone ten minutes after the store opens.

My father had equal success, he is coming home empty handed and sleep deprived as well. Okay, back to sleep. Happy Black Friday!

The Ohio State 42, Michigan 39

While this game was certainly entertaining, I'm not sure if it deserves the "Best Game Ever" praise it seems to be getting. It may have been the biggest regular season game ever, and I certainly hoped you all tuned in. It will be on ESPN Instant Classic on Wednesday.

Michigan never really put the issue in doubt in the second half and boy was their run defense exposed.

Jim Tressel outcoached Lloyd Carr again.

Mike Hart had the game of his life and I'm sure made Paul Pasqualoni cringe if he was watching the game. Of all the Central New York High School players Pasqualoni failed to recruit at SU, he is my 58th favorite.

Troy Smith could've just picked up that replica Heisman when he ran into the locker room after the first half. Saved himself a plane ticket.

They couldn't have a better play-by-play guy for this game than the hyperbole throwing Brent Musberger. He's done this game for at least the past five years now and should just be put on it permanently. Most of the time I find him annoying but for a game that couldn't get any bigger, he's perfect.

The only safe place for Lee Corso after he picked Michigan on College Gameday was ten feet from the Michigan bench.

There is no more fun song played at a football game than Ohio State's "Hang on Sloopy", played at the beginning of the fourth quarter and throughout the post-game celebration.

To quote Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed "Ain't gonna be no rematch", "Don't want one". I just don't think this game was as close as the score and we deserve to see either the Urban Meyer Spread Offense or the Song Girls playing in Glendale. Of course if Notre Dame is the only other one-loss team, than we have no choice, I guess.
