Happy Birthday "Coach"

Today is usually Tax Day but it is also Mike Friedlander's (known as "Coach" in my blogs) 29th Birthday! In three weeks I will be attending his bachelor party the next diary-style blog I plan on doing. He will also be getting married on July 4 of this year and the Mike Friedlander Wedding Blog will be out shortly after.

Happy Birthday Mike Friedlander! Happy Birthday Coach!

Hot for Teacher Redux

Either Pamela Rogers is a twisted whooah with some serious issues or a 13 year old in McMinnville, Tennessee is years ahead of his time satisfying da ladiezz.

Former High School Teacher Pamela Rogers, 28, was arrested again for contacting her former "victim" by setting up a...you guessed it....MySpace.com Page

The page violated two stipulations of her probation, not having any contact with the boy or his family and not going on the internet. She professes her love to the boy, addressing him by his basketball jersey number claiming nothing has changed and she is ready to wait the three years until he becomes of legal age.

A footnote that Scott and a few others may find interesting. Apparently Rogers under her maiden name Pamela Turner won a Miss Monday Nitro Pageant back in WCW's heyday.

Lucky Bastard!

This is My New Favorite Horse…of Course!

Brother Derek won the Santa Anita Derby this past weekend, a tune-up race for May’s Kentucky Derby. Brother Derek is now the prohibitive favorite to win the Kentucky Derby. Since my name is Derek and I have two siblings, this is now my favorite horse of all-time and you better believe I will be rooting him on during the Triple Crown races as if he was a 5-1 at Philadelphia Park and I was in the horse pit at Foxwoods.

Brother Derek is jockeyed by Alex Solis trained by Dan Hendricks and is known to take the lead at the beginning and run with it.

This could be Brother Derek, could be Smarty Jones, could be Seabiscuit. You wouldn’t know the difference. It is Brother Derek though

Tawana Brawley 2006?

Tuesday’s DNA results which produced no match to any of the accused members has changed the Duke Lacrosse rape scandal from a despicable abuse of the poor and black by the privileged and white to possibly our generations' Tawana Brawley case. While it is important to wait for all the facts to be revealed before deeming the lacrosse players “innocent”, the DNA non-match seems to make this case all but un-prosecutable. If the victim is pulling a Tawana Brawley (if you don’t know her story it’s told in the article linked below) Ruth Sheehan of the Raleigh News-Observer writes she is doing perhaps the greatest injustice to victims of true rape.

O-H-Oh No!

So The Ohio State University felt it was time for a slight change in their football uniforms.

Well apparently The Ohio State's fans don't agree with the change. To the ratio of 4-1 in one poll. Some sample comments:

"Woody is turning over."

"Scarlet and Gray! There is a serious lack of GRAY MATTER in those responsible for this decision."

"I can’t believe this is happening. I can’t even concentrate on typing this message because I’m so angry."

"This is classic ‘progress’ in the spirit of ‘New Coke.’ "

I will say while new football unis serve a purpose for the Denver Broncos and University of Oregon, schools with traditions like The Ohio State's should never mess with anything regarding their football program's asthetics. Here's a picture to judge for yourself.

Daren's phone call about this is expected to peel the paint off the walls

STFU!: Cynthia McKinney

STFU of course stands for Shut The Fuck Up. So that this blog can be work and family friendly I will simply use the acronym from now on. Every once in a while, when I reach a breaking point with a celebrity or someone in the news I will tell them to STFU on this blog.

While this was timelier last week it’s a good example of what you will see.

Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D) got her hair done two weeks ago. She wanted to get it on television and make a point at the same time. When she entered the Capitol building she did not wear the Congressional pin that all members of the House of Representatives are required to wear. When the Capitol Hill officer stopped her she refused to show identification. A confrontation ensued and McKinney, who is black, tried to spin the incident as a case of racial profiling claiming her change in hair and her race was the reason she was stopped at the security checkpoint. She went on every single morning news show saying the incident was “much ado about a hairdo”. After her media circuit was over she apologized to the officer using the House floor to do so.

The apology may have had as much to do with the fact that the journalists on the shows she went on and most of the country as a whole saw through her incident as a publicity stunt to get her an avenue to express her radical liberal views on well, everything and more importantly a result of a “diva complex”. It took a week but she got the message…

Cynthia McKinney STFU!

Now to be “fair and balanced”, is the PR gaffe by Rep. McKinney being dragged out by some conservative news outlets to maximize the potential political damage to House Democrats?

Some people think so.

Get this...I thought of this last night...Much ado...about a HAIRDO...get it! Ain't that witty??

Bad News for Hostiles

As broken on SCZA Nation, Kiefer Sutherland has agreed to three more seasons as Jack Bauer on ‘24’ . While FOX has only one more season on its contract to do the show, it is all but a guarantee they will renew the show for the rest of Sutherland’s contract. The show is highly rated with a loyal fanbase and this season has gotten critical acclaim despite being firmly in the middle between its best seasons (last season and season one) and its down seasons (Seasons 2 and 3, with 2 being panned by most other loyal viewers).

In addition 24:The Movie is tentatively scheduled to start filming in summer of 2007 for a Summer 2008 release.

Whether the show can keep its “freshness” through three more seasons with only so many Anti-American causes and so many means of mass destruction to scare us will be a challenge to the writers and Sutherland the show’s newest Executive Producer.

But this does mean the next time Jack risks his life in the line of fire of armed hostiles, we need not worry. He should be just fine.

Maybe with a new contract, Jack Bauer will be less angry, hopefully not though
