Quick Pageantry Picks

At Florida -13 over Alabama- Bama’s too young to not get blown out in the Swamp.

Texas Tech +2 over at Texas A&M- Texas A&M couldn’t beat Army by 2 points, why should they beat Texas Tech?

Michigan -4 over at Minnesota- After yesterday I'm a little snake bitten by road favorites but the disparity of talent here is ridiculous

At Cincinnati -8 over Miami (OH)- Not sure if this game’s on TV or not but Miami (OH) just lost to Syracuse by 20 just last week

The Ohio State -6 over at Iowa- Have to trust The Ohio State to pull away late in this game. The Ohio State is 3-0-1 against the spread. And this game wasn’t even close last year.

Rutgers -4 over South Florida- Louisville knows just how dangerous this trip is in September. I feel better though when I heard what this spread actually was.

At Mississippi +17 over Georgia- If this plays out shall I never bet a road favorite in the SEC again.

At Virginia Tech -11 over Georgia Tech- The Jackets are a little overrated

Bonus: Boise State +4 at Utah. Boise State does well against the Mountain West and are the much better team.

A Michael Scott Joint: "The Convention"

(SPOILER ALERT: If you don’t want any of last night’s episode of The Office spoiled for you DO NOT scroll past the picture of Angela Martin)

Dwight's Hooker

Last night's episode of The Office was nowhere near the level of last week's episode. In fact it probably belonged in the First Season. Michael and Dwight went to the Mid-Atlantic Mid-Market Paper Supplies Convention in Philadelphia. The major story was Michael's jealousy of Jim's new boss Josh and Jim's apparent friendship with him. When Michael threw a party in his hotel room and only Jim showed up. Michael asked him if he left because he wasn't as cool of a boss as Josh. This prompted Jim to reveal the real reason he left Scranton...his failed attempt to win Pam's love. Pam, meanwhile went on a double date with a cartoonist from the Scranton Times and Kelly and Ryan. Kelly feeding Ryan french fries (I mean freedom fries) was the funniest part of this episode. While Pam was underwhelmed by the date, Toby is interested in an office romance with her but can't bring himself to say so. Jim tried to pull one last prank on Dwight in the hotel but Angela's "surprise" for Dwight made Jim think he got a hooker for the night and left all that alone. Michael's new ring tone is "My Humps" by Black-Eyed Peas and Jerome Bettis (nicknamed "The Bus" because "he doesn't like to fly") made a cameo appearance on an otherwise forgettable episode.

Next week, Angela tries to convince Dwight to overthrow Michael.

Thursday Night Betting Tips

I will make an effort to share my College Football Betting Tips to Josh for all gamblers as we had a MAGNIFICENT week last week and hope to carry momentum throughout the season.

BYU +6 over at TCU, Under (47)- Even though it’s the Mountain West and it's Thursday. TCU hasn't been that impressive but its defense has. This game is on Vs. which is the new name for OLN. It's still Channel No. 378 on your cable though so good luck finding it without bruising your thumb.

at Auburn -14 over South Carolina, Over (37.5)- Lay down the 14 against a South Carolina team that isn't that good. The only worry is Sidney Rice going nuts. Auburn should run on the Gamecock defense so I think the over is a safe bet there. Years ago, there was a fire at a library at Auburn, Steve Spurrier said it was a tragedy because "Half the books hadn't been colored in yet". I LOVE THAT LINE.

Trojan Horses

USC's fight song, Fight On, is usually played after first downs and touchdowns. Tribute To Troy, the incessant stanza of pounding drums and blaring horns, is played after every defensive stop. Fanfare is the introduction to Tribute To Troy and is played when the band takes the field. All Right Now is played after USC gets a turnover. Another One Bites the Dust is played after USC gets a sack. The William Tell Overture is played at the start of the fourth quarter. The Emperor's Theme from Star Wars is played when USC is flagged for a major penalty

Had to wait until last night’s Southern Miss-UCF game to post this week’s Pizza Parlor Index. Indiana is now nothing more than an answer to a trivia question that no one besides my friends will ever ask. They lost 14-7 to Connecticut on Saturday. In fact they were one of three non-conference losses by Big Ten teams this weekend that managed to keep Iowa, The Ohio State University and Michigan from the top of this week’s poll. You should recognize the new number one team, USC which has a very real possibility of holding onto this slot for the entire season because of a fairly challenging non-conference schedule (Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame) and the Pac Ten’s league wide commitment to playing solid out of conference schedules. As it is still early in the season the 19 undefeated teams in Division 1-A are the top 19 teams in the poll as the season progresses there may be some overlapping probably over the smaller conference teams (Boise State, TCU, Houston) as their opponents records are woeful which is either fair or unfair depending on your point of view.

Syracuse moves up 9 spots to 58th.
