Hiatus Interruptus Part Two: Bitching in Boston

Boston College Football gets about the amount of attention up here it deserves, which in this beacon of pro sports fanaticism is very little. The Eagles, who haven’t been to a major bowl in over twenty years, find any excuse possible to get a chip on their shoulder whether its with the New England fan base who isn’t interested in them enough or with the Big East Conference. After threatening to sue the ACC for taking Miami and Virginia Tech from the Big East, they conveniently joined the conference when asked to be their 12th team. Their new conference-bowl alignment took them to Boise, Idaho to the MPC Computers Bowl to play ironically the Boise State Broncos. The Eagles held off a Bronco comeback after jumping to a 24-0 lead to win 27-21. But the Eagles did not enjoy their time in Boise. The source of the testiness seems to stem from the Bowl Banquet held Monday night in which the Mayor of Boise spoke welcomed both teams but ended his comments with “Go Broncos” and the CEO of the MPC Computers, seemingly intentionally mispronouncing Eagle Defensive End Mathias Kiwanuka’s name.

Let me be the first to point out that if the Eagles didn’t sell out their conference of twenty two years, their thousands of alumni in the New England and New York areas, and the New England alumni of Big East conference schools, they would have gone to the Gator Bowl on New Year’s Day.

The Pizza Parlor Re-Opens January 2!

I'd like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Blessed Hanukkah. The Pizza Parlor is currently on hiatus as the Christmas shopping season and End of Fiscal Year have taken unfortunate priority over blogging.

Starting Monday, January 2 2006. The Pizza Parlor will close the book on all College Football Talk for the year, to return in August. I will close my argument with Paul on our debate on the BCS and also go back to my Projected Post-Season Top 25 to see how I did and provide a nice year in review. I am also equipped with the 1600+ page ESPN College Football Encyclopedia. I am even scaring myself at this point.

But you can't talk about College Football forever. There is a need to broaden topics to hopefully get more of my friends reading habitually and attract new readers.

Also, my next obsession "24" Premieres January 15.

My promise to you is that 2006 will be the best year yet for The Pizza Parlor, as my imagination has dreamt big with some new ideas that may come to fruition as the year progresses.

Happy Holidays to You All!
