Syracuse signs Potential Playmakers on Signing Day

Yesterday, February 1 was National Signing Day or the day people go to scout.com to look up something besides Florida State girls. Urban Meyer and Florida have the year’s consensus No. 1 recruiting class led by the Alex Smith of 2006 Tim Teabow.

As for the alma mater, Syracuse loaded up on offense with its recruiting class, an obvious direction to go in. Out of the 15 (out of 22 commits) offensive recruits, are some pretty impressive skill players.

-Maryland QB Andrew Robinson, who seems to have Head Coach Greg Robinson so much in his camp that he may have an opportunity to start next season,putting a clipboard in the hands of last year’s starter Senior Perry Patterson who when it came to the West Coast Offense, just didn’t get it.

-Ohio RB Delone Carter, Ohio’s “Mr. Football” who ran for 2,788 yards and 49 touchdowns LAST SEASON. For some reason, either his small size (190lbs.) or a perceived weak competition, the national outlook is lukewarm to a player with those numbers from a football state, he was ranked #25 among National High School Running Backs.

-New Jersey WR Andrey Baskins, rated a **** recruit by both Scout.com and Rivals.com

-Eight Offensive Linemen

Scout.com and Rivals.com have the Syracuse class ranked No. 51 and No. 50 respectively (both third in the Big East behind Pittsburgh and Louisville). And quite honestly, when it comes to projecting the futures of 18 year old kids from High Schools all over the country, nobody knows anything. For a 1-10 team to get even a middle tier recruiting class in a Head Coach’s first full year of recruiting, however, has to be seen as a step in the right direction.
