Pizza Parlor Picks: Final Four
If this came to be, it would be the best collection of individual college basketball players in the history of the NCAA Tournament. Adam Morrison, J.J. Redick, Rudy Gay, Randy Foye, Allan Ray, with supporting roles by J.P. Batista, Sheldon Williams, Josh Boone, Denham Brown, and Mike Nardi. You would have to add a section just for the NBA scouts (which I'm sure they already do).
Gonzaga over Duke- Many people expect Duke's lack of depth to catch up with them at some point in this tournament, they only go 7 deep. Gonzaga only goes 2 deep, but the game plan would be to get Sheldon Williams in foul trouble as he tries to to hold Redick's fort in this battle of Players of the Year. Maybe I'm betting with my heart but I see Morrison taking this game over after Williams gets in foul trouble.
Connecticut over Villanova- Villanova's four guards will get them this far as it is impossible for them to all go cold at once. Unfortunately for them, Connecticut is just too talented at every position. Their games this season have been close but winning this tournament is UConn's destiny.
Connecticut over Gonzaga- This may have the ratings and the scrutiny of the 1980 USA vs. USSR Olympic Hockey Game with of course Gonzaga being America's Team and Adam Morrison being the NBA's Great White Hope by this point. Morrison himself should keep this game close until the 5 minute mark of the 2nd half then the Huskies talent again takes over.
Holding up the trophy for the third time in seven years...Connecticut! 80-70
