ESPN.com has a profile on the German sport "Chessboxing". Chessboxing is as it sounds. Matches with 11 alternating 4-minute rounds of Chess and Boxing. Matches are won by knockout, checkmate, referee's decision, or failure to move after 12 minutes on the chess board allotted for the whole match. Showcase events are scheduled for Cologne, Germany and New York City.

it took me 10 seconds to figure out that this was fuckin retarded. But if the participants are happy then that's fine with me. I just don't want to hear about how Americans are stupid and fat and lazy because we don't appreciate "the beautiful game" of chessboxing.
