Sopranos Review: The Test Dream

If someone is to sum up this season of the Sopranos, it would be AJ coming downstairs saying:
This place sucks, nothing happens here anymore

That said I am programmed to watch Sopranos every Sunday night.
It's a good escape from the fact that I have five days of work ahead of me. I will most likely never miss an episode before the show ends its final season probably to start sometime in 2008.

However I have figured out that for 13 episodes in a season every season has 3 episodes that I absolutely hate.
1) The AJ episode- when we are subjected to an hour of nothing more than AJ brooding; Tony and Carmela wondering what the hell they are going to do; or Tony or Carmela worrying that AJ is destined to join the mafia. Even though he shows no motivation to take out garbage, nonetheless kill a Manhattan crew member.
2) The Italian Pride episode- Usually centers around Melfi or Silvio and some guy questioning Italian stereotypes and the mafia. They should rename every episode like this "Response to Memo from IADA." Just a waste of time for anyone who doesn't care.
And finally?
3) The Dream episode- While this one was more tolerable because it allowed us to become nostalgic showing ALMOST every whacked or dead character from the first episode on (I guess Jason Cerbone was too busy???), the dream episode would be more tolerable if I knew they were actually foreshadowing something.

They weren't they just followed the pattern of the most memorable dream episode; Tony's dreams alert him to the need to kill a close friend. As dragged out as the dream sequence was and the fact that there was no reason for Annette Bening being there, the show could have left me happy last night except for one thing.

All season I have been complaining that something needs to happen to quicken the pace of the show. And last night that very event happened. Yes the turning point of the season happened last night. Tony Uncle Al killed Phil Leotardo's son, in his arms. Don't t tell me you missed that? Well you may have because THEY DIDN'T SHOW IT!

The show ended ten minutes early and I could have done without 2 minutes of Tony talking to his football coach to see the turning point of the season. Absolutely inexcusable.
Now some other random thoughts.
-Other dead people not appearing: Livia Soprano, Jimmy Altieri, Matt Bevilacqua.
-Line of the night (Line of the season): "Sometimes being in here is like taking a sh*t?" (first line to be line of the night for two episodes)
-Next week: Christopher volunteers to whack Tony Uncle Al and Tony Uncle Johnny refuses to let him, causing him to question his allegiance - OR - Christopher wants to kill the bear in Carmela's backyard, and Tony doesn't let him. Afterwards he can't get the urinal to flush so he throws glass at it.
To tell you the truth, I have no idea.
